Project > Corrosion Integrity Assessment
Corrosion Integrity Assessment
Client: Noble Energy
Overview
Corrosion development can jeopardize the integrity of mechanical systems and, in extreme cases may lead to potentially catastrophic impacts on critical piping systems. To avoid this, Noble Energy initiated a corrosion integrity assessment on its offshore platforms’ topsides in Mary B and Tamar, and on its onshore terminal in Ashdod, Israel.
Challenges
The key issue was pressing delivery timeframe due to the project’s scale. The corrosion assessment of the various piping and mechanical systems required inspection of huge amount of engineering data (over 400 P&ID sheets, over 200 layouts, over 5,000 isometric sheets). All data had to be analyzed within 6 months in order to prevent potential corrosion threats.
Activities
The project was led by TMNG’s skilled engineers , with global professional experience , supported by specialized process engineers from Worley Parsons.
Project’s Phases:
• Identification – Identifying corrosion threats and mechanism
• Evaluation – Ranking the piping systems and components’ risk potential according to a risk matrix
• Definition -Analyzing the data and defining the critical points based on risk failure probability
• Execution -Designating and marking inspections points at Noble Energy’s onshore and offshore facilities
Deliverable – A comprehensive maintenance plan
Results
TMNG’s corrosion assessment provided an accurate analysis of the platforms’ operational systems. The team worked in a “fast thinkers, fast-movers” mode, and ensured an accurate, state-of-the-art delivery. A detailed report indicated exact findings, and provided an actionable work plan. By assigning TMNG, Noble Energy enjoyed uncompromising standards of professionalism at maximum availability. The assessment resulted in decreasing the risk of a potential safety, environment, and economic impact which could have originated from corrosion development. Furthermore, the maintenance plan derived from the assessment will optimize future operational tasks, and reduce production costs. TMNG’s ability to collaborate with an international player such as Worley Parsons contributed to meeting the project goals effectively and successfully.
